The Hatters
At first glance, it looks like Stockport have found their shooting boots, hitting Brighton for FOUR away from home last week. But the truth is, The Seagulls were reduced to NINE PLAYERS, and County still needed a penalty and late strike to take all three points.
Stockport have lost both games at home this season, 0-2 against Bristol Rovers, and 1-2 against Carlisle. Their other away fixture was a 0-0 draw at Oldham.
It's noticeable though, that The Hatters are not prolific creators. They had just 2 attempts on target against Oldham,... |
Liebherr Birds and The Bees
Nothing sexy about this football match, and not a great deal of forward play. Almost hit THE G with Trotman, but the Saints Virgin managed to miss the target from close in.
It was a frustrating match, until 73 minutes in. Harding pushed up and fired home. Southampton looked like they were going to go all the way. Not so.
The Bees had a sting in Taylor. On 83 minutes, Cleveland ruined the affair.
THANK GOD, Bees only sting ONCE!

If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you, If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too; If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or being lied about, don't deal in lies, Or being hated, don't give way to hating, And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise: If you can dream - and not make dreams your master; If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim; If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those two impostors just the same; |
United fans must be steaming at the COLLI powers that be!
Colchester United may currently top the table, but in the space of 24 hours, they have lost their manager to Norwich ( the side they thrashed 7-1 on the opening day ), and now their Captain Dean Hammond is joining Saints.
Pleased to see Hammond sign for Southampton, but feelin a little sorry for the Colchester fans to be honest. |
Massive Exodus
CASH-RICH Notts County and SAINTS are eyeing up a move for Kettering's 6ft 5in defender - Exodus Geohaghon.
Sven had the 24 year old watched at Oxford in midweek.
Alan Pardew has been alerted to the former Redditch Utd player, who has impressed since stepping up to the Blue Square Premiership.
A Saints source said, "The manager is on the lookout for a big, no-nonsense centre back from the non-league game, and from what he's been told, the boy at Kettering fits the bill perfectly. |
After being terrierised by Huddersfield at the weekend ...
Is Mellis the menace we are looking for?
We all know that we need a bully in the middle of the park to boss affairs, and in comes Jacob Mellis?
Mellis looks to be a decent player, but is he the troube maker we need. And when I say trouble maker, I don't just mean nasty. Can he cause trouble for our opponents in the final third.
In short, is Mellis going to DICTATE, or does he need leadership, like so many around him.
Does anybody know anything about Jacob? |
Is Markus Liebherr SAINT NICKLAUS in disguise? Not only does he look the part, Markus Liebherr really is starting to deliver the goods. It's like opening an advent calendar at Christmas at the moment. Each new day brings another treat. Markus Liebherr is a SAINT. St Nicklaus! Is that a Xmas Jingle I can hear from the Northam Pole? Are you Santa in disguise? |
Saints 2 Cobblers 0
It was predictable. Lambert getting on the scoresheet, and Saints doing enough to be comfortable on the night.
Although it was nice to see the 'Magnificent Seven' shoot the first, it was also pleasing to see Rasiak come on as a substitute and be just as influential as he was against Hearts, setting up Lallana to really put the boot into Cobblers. |
Saints 1 Millwall 1
Saints welcomed Millwall to St. Mary's for their League One curtain raiser.
After last season's comedy of errors, pundits could be forgiven for thinking Pardew would continue to send out the clowns. But billionaire owner Markus Liebherr, intends to bring back the smiles and stop the laughter. Silly season is over. A more serious one has begun.
A crowd of 20,000 fans paid to see a more skillful act. Saints walked a tightrope, but the highlight was the taming of the Lions. Millwall promised drama, and roared on... |
Saints 3 Hearts 0
Let's hope all Saints fans have a sweet tooth. If the 'Jam Tart' taster is anything to go by, they could be in for a real treat.
Demonstrating his potential to be something of a Celebrity Masterchef, the new Southampton manager mixed all the usual ingredients and stirred them up.
The timer was set for 90 minutes, and the heat turned up. Saints cooked. Following recipe and instruction, Heart of Midlothian were done. It was a palatable result. No, it was exceedingly good.
Just maybe, Saints fans really... | |
